From LV Logistics, we will obviously continue to monitor the situation closely and will inform our customers of any delays and alternative options as quickly and effectively as possible. We want to help our customers minimize inconvenience and delay. Our experts are at your disposal.

Last Friday, Maersk, Hapag Lloyd, MSC, Evergreen and CMA CGM all declared they were suspending transits for vessels bound for the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Suez Canal. This morning Maersk announced that all vessels previously paused and due to sail through the region will now be re-routed around Africa via the Cape of Good Hope for safety reasons.

Discuss your options

Until further notice the shipping lines mentioned above will route their vessels via the Cape of Good Hope South Africa, adding 10-12 days of sailing time. The cost of container freight will possibly increase.

If you have any questions about the situation, wish to discuss options for your cargo or would like to call on our knowledge and expertise, please feel free to contact one of our experts below.
